Meet Coach: Steve Swindon

Business coach, experienced entrepreneur and nice guy

My Background

With over 35 years of diverse experience spanning various industries and roles, I bring a wealth of expertise to the table.

Throughout my career, I’ve held senior positions with substantial budgetary responsibilities, excelled as a consultant across multiple businesses, and thrived as an entrepreneur, co-founding several successful ventures.

My track record includes transforming chaotic situations into orderly operations, rescuing failing endeavours, and bringing abstract concepts to tangible fruition.

I specialize in resolving operational challenges and guiding businesses towards building scalable, resilient, and cost-effective infrastructures.

My approach is marked by creativity, integrity, and empathy, always focusing on opportunities rather than obstacles.

“I particularly enjoy collaborating with startups and SMEs in the plant-based food and drink sector…”

Clients I love to work with

I am drawn to businesses and individuals open to fresh perspectives and transparent discussions about their growth challenges. Commitment to the coaching process and prioritization of time are non-negotiable for success.

I particularly enjoy collaborating with startups and SMEs in the plant-based food and drink sector, aiding them in scaling their operations.

Additionally, I find fulfilment in assisting professional services firms transition from solo ventures to thriving practices.

“…I have a proven track record of devising innovative solutions to seemingly insurmountable challenges.”

What I’m great at

My strength lies in applying rational, structured thinking to seemingly chaotic scenarios, helping clients identify and overcome growth impediments.

Renowned for my creative problem-solving skills, I have a proven track record of devising innovative solutions to seemingly insurmountable challenges.

Drawing from firsthand experience in launching and managing successful enterprises, I understand the complexities of navigating conflicting priorities and emphasize the importance of working on the business rather than in it.

I empower clients to enhance productivity and reclaim time for activities beyond day-to-day operations.

“Understand what skills you bring to the party and be honest with yourself about the help you need to plug any skills gaps.”

My best advice for small business owners

Get a minimum viable version of your product into the hands of potential customers as quickly as possible to assess demand and make any required changes to the product, packaging and branding etc. before the final design is committed. Keep a close eye on costs and cash burn. Understand what skills you bring to the party and be honest with yourself about the help you need to plug any skills gaps.

My foremost recommendation is to create and share a minimum viable version of your product with prospective customers to gauge market demand and refine key elements before finalisation.

Most businesses fail due to running out of cash so keeping a keen eye on costs and cash flow is paramount. I recommend introducing a robust accounting and cash management process as early as possible with the ability to generate timely cash flow forecasts quickly and easily.

It is crucial to acknowledge your strengths and acknowledge areas where additional support may be needed to bridge skill gaps effectively.

“I firmly believe in the transformative power of coaching for businesses seeking to expand their horizons.”
